I’m Mir Tafseer Nayeem, a PhD Candidate in Computing Science at the University of Alberta, advised by Prof. Davood Rafiei. My research centers on language modeling with a focus on user-centric aspects. I study how user attributes such as age, language, dialect, intent, and preferences can be integrated into the development of large language models (LLMs) and into downstream synthesis tasks such as generation and summarization, aiming to build inclusive, adaptive, and context-aware language technologies.

My research is supported by the Huawei PhD Fellowship. My work received the Best Resource Paper Award at EMNLP 2024, the Area Chair Favorite Paper Award at COLING 2018, and most recently, the Best Short Paper Award at VIS 2025.

I regularly serve as an Area Chair (AC) for the *ACL conferences, including ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, and EACL. Previously, several of my reviews were recognized as Great Reviews at ACL 2024 and NAACL 2025.
