I’m Mir Tafseer Nayeem, a third-year Computing Science PhD student at the University of Alberta, advised by Prof. Davood Rafiei. My research primarily focuses on Natural Language Processing (NLP), with special emphasis on Human-centered NLP, Summarization, and Multilingual & Cross-Lingual NLP.

My PhD research involves human-centric modeling of content across various modalities, including text, tables, images, and ratings, particularly considering two key factors: (1) who are the creators of the content and (2) to whom the model will serve, specifically the intended audience. Below, you can find an overview of my research and its broader implications.

My research is generously supported by the Huawei PhD Fellowship. My work received the Best Resource Paper Award at EMNLP 2024 and the Area Chair Favorite Paper Award at COLING 2018.
